Bass calls For faster LADWP safety repairs and other reforms

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass today sent the following letter regarding the dangerous condition of hundreds of LADWP utility poles. The letter calls on LADWP to act swiftly to ensure public awareness about remaining poles in need of repair and to urgently address necessary repairs. The Mayor also called for LADWP to ensure that the safety of the public and of LADWP workers is the Department’s highest priority.

LOS ANGELES — Mayor Karen Bass will deliver her first State of the City address on Monday, April 17th from City Hall, in the Chambers of the Los Angeles City Council. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Bass will speak to how her Administration has made urgent progress during her first 100+ days as Mayor and will discuss her plans for the next year to make Los Angeles stronger, healthier, happier and safer.

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass today was joined by City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto to announce that the City of Los Angeles is taking action to preserve and rehabilitate nearly 2,000 units of permanent supportive housing owned by the Skid Row Housing Trust, which recently announced it is unable to continue operating its 29 buildings in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass and Councilmember Bob Blumenfield announced today that Mayor Bass’ Inside Safe initiative is underway along the Los Angeles River in the San Fernando Valley. Inside Safe is a new, citywide, proactive housing-led strategy to bring people inside from tents and encampments, and to prevent encampments from returning. It is one feature in a comprehensive strategy to confront the homelessness crisis.
