LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass issued the following statement today as the Planning Department released a revised ordinance for a permanent Al Fresco program:
“Angelenos and I have said that we reject a return to the status quo when it comes to outdoor dining. Al Fresco shows us a better way that supports small businesses, creates jobs and adds vibrancy to our neighborhoods. I directed City Departments to work together to make this a permanent Al Fresco program that incorporates everything that made the temporary program successful and to make the process simple and easy to navigate for our restaurants. This revision is a huge step in the right direction for restaurants, their workers and their customers. My office will continue working with the city departments involved in Al Fresco to create a permanent program that helps restaurants and communities thrive.”
The proposed permanent program will be considered by the City Planning Commission at its upcoming April 27th meeting. Link here: planning.lacity.org/plans-policies/outdoor-dining.
