Upcoming Conventions to Bring 103,000 People to LA and Generate $242 Million in Economic Impact
LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass today announced that 13 major organizations have chosen to host their annual conferences in Los Angeles at the LA Convention Center (LACC) directly because of the approval of the expansion and modernization project. These conferences will bring more than 103,000 people to Los Angeles, delivering more than $242 million in economic impact. The LA Convention Center Modernization and Expansion Project continues to attract large-scale events to Los Angeles while creating thousands of good-paying, union jobs for Angelenos. “Our expansion and modernization of the LA Convention Center is driving new economic growth and increased tourism to Los Angeles, bolstering our ongoing investment to revitalize Downtown LA,” said Mayor Bass. “Thirteen additional major organizations have chosen LA because we’re delivering a state-of-the-art facility – and they're ready to bring more than 103,000 convention-goers with them, delivering a more than $242 million economic impact for Los Angeles. I am grateful to the City Tourism Department and our partners for their success in driving business to the City.”
The following organizations have chosen to hold their annual conference at LACC. Collectively, these 13 events represent more than 103,000 attendees and are projected to generate a total economic impact of more than $242 million for Los Angeles. It will also add millions to the City’s General Fund along with other direct and indirect spending that will benefit Angelenos and local businesses.

These 13 commitments join the group of organizations that committed to the LACC, which was announced by the Mayor in January – American Speech-Language Hearing Association in 2031; American Geophysical Union in 2032; and the International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference in 2037.
After being contemplated for more than a decade, Mayor Bass finalized approval of the expansion and modernization of the LA Convention Center. With major global events on the horizon, this expansion is a bold step to revitalize Downtown Los Angeles back to the cultural and economic hub that represents the best of what this city has to offer.
