Relay28 Powering the World Stage logo

Relay28

The years leading to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games present an unprecedented economic moment for our region. Billions of dollars in infrastructure, tourism, and business expansion will drive unprecedented demand across industries, with the LAEDC projecting that the Games will catalyze 200,000 jobs across the region.

Join Us for Relay28!

RELAY28 is a regional coalition convened by the City of Los Angeles. We bring together employers, local governments, workforce development boards, educational institutions, labor organizations, chambers of commerce, philanthropy, and community partners around a single mission: to build a coordinated regional strategy for workforce growth and local hiring.

Historically, employers have had to navigate fragmented workforce systems, managing separate relationships and trying to find the right hiring channels. At the same time, regional workforce organizations frequently operate independently, making it difficult to coordinate employer engagement, share workforce intelligence, and respond efficiently to industry demand. RELAY28 simplifies this system by creating a single, collaborative network that aligns industry demand with qualified local talent. While the 2028 Games serve as our catalyst, RELAY28 is building the long-term infrastructure to transform how employers connect with local talent for decades to come.

Our goal is to connect thousands of regional residents — with an intentional focus on creating career pathways for young people — to quality employment while giving employers direct access to a skilled, prepared local workforce.

Over the coming months, we will host a series of employer convenings by industry clusters for open, collaborative conversations about how we prepare our region to meet the 2028 moment.

The RELAY28 Pledge

We invite employers and regional leaders to take an active role in shaping our region's economic legacy. By signing the RELAY28 Regional Pledge, your organization commits to advancing four core priorities:

Work across the region to build partnerships that advance economic growth, innovation, and regional competitiveness.

Share industry expertise and projected workforce needs to help align education, training, and workforce investments with evolving business demand.

Prioritize opportunities to recruit, hire, and develop local talent whenever feasible, connecting qualified individuals to careers while strengthening the workforce that will power the 2028 Games and beyond. As workforce needs emerge, explore internships, apprenticeships, work-based learning, mentorship, and other career pathways that can connect employers to skilled local talent and help build the workforce pipeline they need for 2028 and beyond.

Advance solutions that help businesses grow, strengthen communities, and create a lasting economic legacy beyond the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
