LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass today announced the appointment of Solomon Rivera as Deputy Chief of Staff.
“Over the past two decades, I’ve worked with Solomon in multiple different capacities – both as a community organizer, as Speaker of the California State Assembly, and as a Member of Congress,” said Mayor Bass. “I look forward to working with Solomon now in City Hall to move our city forward.”
Solomon Rivera, Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategy – Solomon will develop and oversee the community engagement component of the Mayor’s Office in addition to overseeing Neighborhood Services, which includes Los Angeles Public Libraries, Recreation and Parks, Neighborhood Empowerment and Animal Services. Solomon will also guide outreach to stakeholders on key issues and build strategic partnerships to advance the goals of Mayor Bass’ administration. Prior to joining the Mayor’s Office, Solomon served as Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson’s Chief of Staff, working collaboratively to advance the goals of the office and serving as a senior advisor to the Councilmember on key policies and initiatives. Prior to that role, Solomon worked for then-Congressmember Karen Bass as a Deputy Chief of Staff, as well as then-Speaker Karen Bass as a Special Assistant. Before joining public service, Solomon worked as a community organizer and executive in the nonprofit sector for 16 years. He is a proud and devoted dad to his daughter, Camila.
