Kelijo Boney, Public Education Campaign Manager, Clean California
“We are glad we could partner on Shine LA Service Day alongside the Mayor’s Office and other community partners. Despite the rain, neighbors banded together to make a difference in cleaning up and beautifying their neighborhoods. It shows a tremendous commitment by the community to keeping California clean. Every little bit counts and we hope to see more communities join the cause.”
Veronica Padilla Campos, Executive Director, Paicoma Beautiful
“Pacoima Beautiful is proud to partner with the Mayor’s Office on Shine LA to celebrate Earth Day to bring a meaningful, community-centered clean up gardening day, and environmental justice related resource fair to Pacoima. It’s inspiring to see residents show up, rain or shine, to celebrate health, connection, and resilience.”
Kathleen Rawson, President and CEO, Hollywood Partnership
“The Hollywood Partnership was honored to stand alongside Mayor Bass and Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez for Shine LA. Even the rain couldn’t wash away the incredible spirit of unity, hope, and pride that brought over 500 people together to uplift and care for our beloved Hollywood. This is what community looks like.”
Jeff Carr, CEO, JVS SoCal
“JVS SoCal staff was pleased to join Mayor Bass and thousands of Angelenos who gathered at locations across the City help make our city shine. When there is so much negative news dominating the headlines every day, it was a joy to be part of a citywide movement to highlight community and what makes LA Shine all year long.”
Eli Lipmen, Executive Director, Move LA
“The Mayor’s Shine LA volunteer event proved that government can work, and work together. That when LAUSD and the City of LA says ‘yes we can’, we can get tremendous things done. We were proud to partner with Mayor Karen Bass to shine some light on a rainy day at Palms Middle School.”
Kay Hartman, President, Palms Neighborhood Council
“The Palms Neighborhood Council is grateful for the attention of the Mayor towards cleaning our Middle School and planting native plants. The Middle School was in real need of minor, but large improvements. The whole community benefits from the cleaning, painting, and planting the 150 volunteers accomplished yesterday. We also were honored to have the Mayor visit our native street tree project. Biodiversity is more important now than ever. We thank the Mayor for taking the time to visit this site and understand the value of the contribution we are making towards this goal.”
Cathy Hood, Founder, Pristine Initiative
“We made history by bringing together Angelenos from across the city for one day to beautify the communities in which they live and work. This vision came to life through our partners and will continue to grow every year in celebration of Earth month.”
Lourdes Castro Ramirez, President and CEO, Housing Authority of Los Angeles
“HACLA is proud to stand with Mayor Bass, community partners, and neighbors across Los Angeles for Shine LA. This city-wide day of action is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together to lift up and beautify our neighborhoods. We were honored to host fun family-friendly events at San Fernando Gardens, Imperial Courts, and Rancho San Pedro— three of our public housing communities— where residents, HACLA staff and volunteers offered a helping hand to support activities ranging from planting and e-bike demos to games, crafts, food distributions, community cleanups, and more. Thanks to Mayor Bass and the City of Los Angeles for bringing us together to showcase the strength and spirit of LA.”
