New Help Available for Palisades Residents Seeking Their Building Plans

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass announced that Palisades residents can now obtain the original building plans for their lost homes at the LA One-Stop Rebuilding Center. At the request of the Mayor’s Office, Governor Gavin Newsom recently issued an Executive Order that suspended the state law that required City of Los Angeles officials to seek the consent of the person who designed a building plan (or, often, the designer’s heirs or those who otherwise acquired the rights to the plans) before releasing it to the building owner. Additionally, Mayor Bass said, the City will make plans available electronically.

“This is another way we are keeping our commitment to doing everything we can to make rebuilding in the Palisades as fast and safe as possible,” said Mayor Bass. “I want to thank Governor Newsom for his continued partnership in replacing red tape with common sense. Working together, progress in the Palisades is months ahead of expectations.”

Homeowners can request their plans via email at records.ladbs@lacity.org and at the One-Stop Rebuilding Center in person. Government issued ID, a copy of the property’s recorded deed and completion of this form are required to obtain plans.

The One-Stop Rebuilding Center is at 1828 Sawtelle Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90025, and is open Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 8 PM; Saturday & Sunday, 10 AM - 4 PM. Staff has been directed to provide the service same-day whenever possible. Please email records.ladbs@lacity.org for more information.

Mayor Bass opened the LA One-Stop Rebuilding Center to help Palisades homeowners and business owners rebuild faster. The LA One-Stop Rebuilding Center creates a single place for Palisadians to go for anything they need from the City when rebuilding their homes or businesses under the expedited and streamlined process created under Mayor Bass’ emergency executive order.
