LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced an Inside Safe operation in East Hollywood on Alexandria Avenue and Fountain Avenue near Bright Childhood Daycare with Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez. During this operation, more than 20 Angelenos were brought inside and provided supportive services from the Los Angeles Homeless Service Authority (LAHSA), County of Los Angeles Department of Mental Health (DMH) and USC Street Medicine. “Today’s Inside Safe operation continues this city’s commitment to addressing the homelessness crisis and saving lives,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “I want to thank Councilmember Soto-Martinez for his continued efforts to lock arms as we confront this crisis head on.”.

“This was our 6th successful Inside Safe operation in our district, showing yet again that when we invest in housing and mental health/addiction treatment, we can bring people off the street and into housing,” said Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez.

In 2023, tent encampments came down in every council district and thousands more Angelenos came inside than in 2022 thanks to action locking arms with the City Council, County and LAHSA. The Mayor has worked to improve services provided for unhoused Angelenos coming inside and has also been vocal about the need to make homelessness programs more cost effective as this urgent work continues.

Earlier this week, Mayor Bass expanded Executive Directive 3 to use publicly-owned land to build more housing faster and to address RV encampments by increasing the City’s capacity to tow, store, and dismantle surrendered vehicles. More than 14,000 units of affordable housing are now being accelerated as a result of her executive directive to streamline their development.
