LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced an Inside Safe operation near the intersection of South Union Avenue and West 3rd Street. These efforts were conducted in partnership with Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez and the LA County Homeless Initiative. Click here for photos and b-roll of the operation.

“We continue taking steps to save lives and provide supportive services to those Angelenos in need across the city,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “I want to thank Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez for her continued partnership and support to address the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles by bringing people inside.”

“Many of the people who came inside during yesterday’s operation have been waiting for housing placements to open up for months,” said Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez. “Yesterday’s Inside Safe has allowed these individuals to enter the pipeline towards securing long-term, sustainable housing and continues our Care-First approach to addressing the housing and homelessness crisis.”

In 2023, tent encampments came down in every council district and thousands more Angelenos came inside than in 2022 thanks to action locking arms with the City Council, County and LAHSA. The Mayor has worked to improve services provided for unhoused Angelenos coming inside and has also been vocal about the need to make homelessness programs more cost effective as this urgent work continues.
