LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass’ Inside Safe initiative housed 40 Angelenos in a long-standing encampment that stretched across a busy street in Historic Filipinotown. By providing interim housing and connecting Angelenos with essential services, Inside Safe continues to save lives and restored the community back to residents, small business owners and nearby places of worship. “People continue to see and feel the real impact of Inside Safe – saving lives and restoring communities,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “For weeks, our Field Intervention Teams have engaged with those living in this encampment, not just providing critical resources, but building meaningful relationships. Our steadfast urgency in addressing homelessness will always be led with compassion, dignity and respect for those we bring inside and the neighborhoods we work within across Los Angeles.”

“Connecting our unhoused neighbors onto pathways to permanent housing is at the core of our work,” said Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez. “I am grateful to the Mayor's office and our outreach teams for successfully bringing people off the streets at Beverly and Mountain View with dignity, compassion, and care. Our office will continue to work hand in hand with our partners at every level of government until every Angeleno has permanent, dignified housing.”

“We are continuing to demonstrate that when we approach the issue of homelessness with a focus on compassion and dignity, we see results,” said Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez. “I want to thank the Mayor’s office for their continued collaboration and give credit to our homelessness team and City outreach workers for building the connections and doing the work that allows us to bring our unhoused neighbors inside and into safe housing.”

During the operation, about 20 people saw Inside Safe staff and reached out for help. Inside Safe Field Intervention staff were able to connect individuals with housing and services. Through a combination of long-term care and valuable city-investments, Inside Safe is not just mitigating the humanitarian crisis on our streets, but a vital component of the comprehensive solution.

This is why Los Angeles has seen a consecutive two-year decline in street homelessness – a first for the city. With Inside Safe completing more than 110 encampment resolutions, Mayor Bass has been clear that this work will continue until no Angeleno has to live on the streets.
