ICYMI: Mayor Bass addresses the United States Conference of Mayors with calls for local, state and federal unity

WASHINGTON, DC — Mayor Bass addressed the United States Conference of Mayors today, calling for unity in solving the homelessness crisis.

The conclusion of her remarks are below:

"I've listened to other speakers talk about the problems in their city, and their populations are much smaller. But let me just leave you with a warning from Los Angeles. Your population of unhoused might not be as massive as 67,000 people, but let me just tell you, if you don't get a handle on it, it will be. This is a solvable problem. We know how to do this, but we have to change our thinking away from the status quo, away from doing things as usual, and view this as a manmade disaster of the 21st century. And we need to all come together, lock arms, in our cities with our local government, county, state and federal and turn the situation around."
