WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Los Angeles Neighborhood and Community Leaders Show Support for Mayor Bass’ Fifth Executive Directive

LOS ANGELES – Here’s what Los Angeles Neighborhood and Community leaders are saying about Mayor Bass’ Executive Directive 5 to upgrade the delivery of city services by decreasing wait times, enhancing the quality of the service and better communicating the result of service requests.

“I am very excited that the Mayor has focused much needed attention on the MyLA311 system.  The Los Angeles community will benefit from the enhancements, communication and streamlining of the process. This action shows that City Hall is listening to communities and working to improve the delivery of city services, ” said Ray Regalado, President of the Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council and President of the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners.*

“The Mayor's initiative to improve city services is exactly what our community needs. Our project, which exists to preserve and promote the community's welfare, will benefit directly as the entire neighborhood experiences a new level of responsiveness thanks to Mayor Bass,” said Jason Foster, President and COO of Destination Crenshaw.

“This Executive Directive is a crucial first step towards consistent, excellent customer service for all Angelenos. With a vast public right of way, spanning 200+ neighborhoods, 7,500 miles of streets, and 502 square miles, Mayor Bass has shown a commitment to untangling the web of confusion to help people make their streets and public spaces livable, and improving the way the City manages and budgets for them,” said Jessica Meaney, Executive Director of Investing in Place.

"With an improved MyLA311 Service System, Angelenos will convey quality of life concerns with the expectation that they will actually be addressed. If adequate resources are provided for action, constituents will enjoy safer, cleaner communities across Los Angeles," said Tim Watkins, President and CEO of the Watts Labor Community Action Committee.

“As the Executive Director of the Studio City and Century City Business Improvement Districts, I rely heavily on 311 to help us with graffiti removal, cleaning illegal dumping and other city services,” said Vicki Nussbaum, Executive Director of the Studio City and Century City Business Improvement Districts. “I am so happy that Mayor Bass will make the 311 system easier to use and ensure consistent and faster response times. If more people and businesses used 311, it would result in a cleaner and safer city.”

“MyLA311 is a critical channel for the community to connect with City services. We applaud Mayor Bass's efforts to audit and improve access to these services.  The LA Conservation Corps helps City of LA departments clean streets and plant trees, and we handle graffiti abatement requests through the MyLA311 system, so we can see firsthand how Mayor Bass' vision to make 311 more responsive will result in LA being a cleaner and greener place to live,” said Wendy Butts, Chief Executive Officer LA Conservation Corps.
