Local labor leaders today acknowledged and applauded Mayor Bass following the release of her proposed FY24 - 25 budget that emphasized paying workforce fairly:

Yvonne Wheeler, President, L.A. County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO

“Los Angeles has a Mayor who prioritizes all people, including the working class, and for that we are grateful. Thank you to Mayor Bass and her team for navigating a tough budget year by proposing a budget that continues towards our goal of a more livable Los Angeles for the working class and their families.”

David Green, President and Executive Director, SEIU 721

“We know that Mayor Bass has always stood with the working people of Los Angeles, but this year's proposed budget makes that even more clear. City workers keep our city running and this budget reflects an appreciation of this fact. This is exactly the kind of governance that we need. We firmly believe that good city jobs with fair wages are essential to lifting Angelenos out of poverty, and the proposed budget assures that city workers can thrive in Los Angeles. Thank you Mayor Bass for recognizing the importance of livable wages in Los Angeles and for being a true partner to our dedicated city workers.”

Roy Samaan, President, Engineers & Architects Association

“During a tough budget year, we are happy to see that Mayor Bass’ commitment to union workers in Los Angeles still stands. We know that it is more important than ever to ensure the City’s workforce is paid fair wages, and we appreciate Mayor Bass’ efforts to stand with us in our fight to make sure our members are able to continue providing high-quality services to the whole city.”
