STATEMENT: Mayor Bass issues statement regarding recent arrest following Possible hate crimes in West Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass today issued the following statement:

“These attacks against members of our Jewish community in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood are absolutely unacceptable.

“It is my understanding that both the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI are investigating these incidents as hate crimes so I want to be very clear: anti-Semitism and hate crimes have no place in our city or our country. Those who engage in either will be caught and held fully accountable.

“At a time of increased anti-Semitism, these acts have understandably set communities on edge. Just last December, I stood blocks away from where these incidents occurred as we celebrated the first night of Hanukkah together. Now, my pledge to the Pico-Robertson community and to the City of Los Angeles as a whole, is that we will fight this hatred vigorously and work every day to defeat it.

“Thank you to the officers of the Los Angeles Police Department who have been investigating these incidents and who will be stepping up patrols around Jewish places of worship and surrounding neighborhoods.

“We are a strong city – and we are strongest when we stand united against hate, together.”
