LOS ANGELES – As part of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ focused efforts to clean up the city, Mayor Bass hosted a community clean-up in South L.A. over the weekend, bringing together more than 100 Mayor’s Office staff, high school students and community members to clean Broadway, a major commercial corridor, and nearby residential streets. The Public Works Departments supported the clean-up by removing illegal dumping and bulky items, and conducting other maintenance activities. “In the coming year we will be ramping up efforts to clean our city and get ready to host major events ahead of the FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Mayor Bass. “Thank you to all who came out to help.”
The Office of Mayor Bass will continue hosting community events in the new year to bring Angelenos together with a shared purpose of cleaning and preparing our neighborhoods to be on the world stage. Mayor Bass has directed Public Works Departments to improve upon and make processes more efficient to keep City streets and public spaces clean.
Earlier this month, Mayor Bass was joined by City sanitation workers in Koreatown to announce tens of thousands more city services were delivered this year than 2023 and 2022 following actions to make City government more efficient and more responsive to Angelenos ahead of the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
