“We continue to work in partnership with our City Council colleagues so more Angelenos can come inside from the streets. Together, we have housed people in every council district in the city,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “Thank you to Councilmember Hernandez for your partnership as we continue this work in your district.”

“I am grateful for the leadership of Mayor Bass as we work together to bring more people inside today,” said Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez. “We will continue to prioritize a Care-First approach to our housing and homelessness crises that meets people where they are with the care and services they need and deserve.”

Today’s announcement comes while Mayor Bass is leading an international delegation to generate business development and learn from innovative housing, green transportation and infrastructure projects to prepare Los Angeles ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. While the Mayor is traveling, the work to house Angelenos continues. During Mayor Bass's first year, Angelenos have been housed in every council district. Thousands of Angelenos came inside during the Mayor’s first year thanks to urgent action locking arms with the City Council. Los Angeles is also building more housing rapidly to confront this crisis. This is the 40th Inside Safe operation in Los Angeles.

Inside Safe supports the following five goals:

  • Reduce the loss of life on our streets.
  • Increase access to mental health and substance abuse treatment for those living in encampments.
  • Work to end street homelessness by housing Angelenos.
  • Promote long-term housing stability for people experiencing homelessness.
  • Enhance the safety and hygiene of neighborhoods for all residents, businesses and neighbors.
