LOS ANGELES – Today, Mayor Bass joined Angelenos for this month’s Shine LA, marking more than 30 combined service sites since the initiative was launched in April of this year. The movement to revitalize and prepare the city for the world stage invites Angelenos to take pride in their city and neighborhoods. Since April, Shine LA has reached Angelenos across Los Angeles by taking place in locations like El Pueblo, Koreatown, Pacoima, Hollywood and Boyle Heights. Today’s activation hosted beautification efforts in Wilmington, North Harbor Gateway and South LA. B-roll from today is available here.
“I want to thank all the volunteers, community leaders and organizations that turned out today to get these incredible LA neighborhoods ready to shine,” said Mayor Bass. “At each of today’s sites, I heard from Angelenos about the importance of coming together and showing up for our city, especially when the administration is trying to divide us. Thank you to all the Angelenos who showed up for each other today at Shine LA.”
With major global events on the horizon, more than 1,000 Angelenos have volunteered through Shine LA to beautify city neighborhoods. From tree planting, graffiti removal to loose litter pick up, Angelenos are showing they are unified and ready to welcome the world.
"Thank you to Mayor Bass for her leadership and all the Angelenos who continue to show up to make our city shine,” said Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson. “In LA, we take care of our city and each other, and that will be the takeaway for all the visitors during the 2026 World Cup: that LA is resilient."
“Thank you to Mayor Bass for launching this citywide day of service and to the residents and volunteers in the One-Five who continue, today and every day, to show up and care for our neighborhoods," said Councilmember Tim McOsker. "In our district, we know that community clean-ups are about more than just beautification, they’re about connection, empowerment, and pride. Today, in Harbor Gateway and Wilmington, we not only cleaned our streets, we strengthened the bonds that make our communities thrive.”
Mayor Bass will continue to host monthly activations to unify Angelenos as we prepare the city for the world stage. Angelenos are encouraged to sign up for alerts about upcoming Shine LA events at mayor.lacity.gov/ShineLA.
