ICYMI: Global Esports Games to Come to Los Angeles in 2026

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass yesterday joined leaders from the Global Esports Federation, LA Times Media Group and El Segundo Mayor Chris Pimentel in announcing that the Global Esports Games will take place in the L.A. region in 2026. The Opening Ceremony of the Los Angeles 2026 Global Esports Games (#GEG26) is scheduled for December 4, 2026. B-roll is available here

“It is only fitting that Los Angeles, the creative capital of the world, will be the stage for the future of global competition in esports,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “We are adding yet another major event to an already incredible lineup.”

“For many people around the world, Los Angeles symbolizes the epicenter of sport, entertainment, music, culture – a world of limitless possibilities,” said Paul J. Foster, President and CEO of the Global Esports Federation. “As the United States prepares to celebrate 250 years since its founding, our global community from 180 Member Federations is excited to join in these historic celebrations and share in the city’s remarkable energy at the Los Angeles 2026 Global Esports Games.”
