LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass encourages income-eligible residents to schedule free tax appointments at local libraries to get help preparing their 2023 tax returns. The program is run by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs. The Los Angeles Public Library is proud to partner with the local American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Foundation's Tax Aide Program and VITA service providers to be able to provide these services.

In order to qualify for the free appointments, taxpayers must have income of $64,000 or less. Persons with disabilities, those aged 60 and over, and those with limited English also qualify.
